The Sign of the Albatross

"I committed no Albotrocity! it was like food from Heaven."

The sailors were adrift and quickly running out of food. One sailor, thinking about his life and the lives of his crew, decided to do the forbidden thing that all sailors consider taboo: he intended to play dead on the deck and wait for the albatross to start feeding on him. He planned to bite into its neck and describe the fate of this unfortunate creature.

It took nearly a week before the sailor could finally bite the head off the albatross. Little did he know that even more suffering and pain awaited him. What he had done was against the rules of the sea. After that moment, the man rose from his knees, transformed by what he had done. They survived by consuming the headless albatross, but the sacrifice was marked on their chests—a reminder of the many maidens lost during their voyage.

The one who severed the albatross's head bore an albatross around his neck, like a crucifix for a Christian, a burden of shame that only a few could endure alone. It was a weight he would have needed Christ to help him carry, as if nailed to the cross. The memory of that cross was buried deep within the ocean, like a skull and crossbones

"Tell no one of this abomination that had to occur on these bloody seas. you keep it to yourself."

It's the olde religions, sir. We either take to the wind and let it carry us, or we are sitting ducks, sir. I will let no religions mock Me, In-sin. lower the sales and bring about business. Aye Ay Sir!

  1. the sailors were adrift and were running out of food fast a sailor had thought fast about his life and his crew and he was about to do the forbidden thing that all sailair find taboo And the play dead on the deck and wait till the avatar would start eating on him and then he would describe this albatross and bite into his neck And so it did happen it took nearly one week before the sailor could bite the head of this albatross But little did he know there was gonna be even more suffering more pain What he had done was against the rules of the sea but after that man came up from his knees It was albatrosity not only did they live again from eating that dead headless albatross the very sacrice of many maidens during thier voyage that twas written all across the chest. and the one who bit off the albatross's head. the albatross around his neck. A shame that not many people could bear the shame that one could not bear alone, but would have needed Jesus Christ to nail them on that cross. Thy cross, that was across the waters and across our chest, buried into the deep as skull and crossbones. Ye tell no one about this albatrocity that had to occur on thy bloody seas. Tale no one ye here.
